HITN participated in an initiative designed to encourage 6 to 10 year old students to read. The reading initiative kicked off with a book drive organized by students and teachers at P.S./I.S. 045 Horace E. Greene in Brooklyn, NYC. Parents, local businesses, and HITN all donated books to the book drive. Afterwards, the students were asked to share half of all the donated books with a needy school identified by the students. The students from P.S./I.S. 045 Horace E. Greene collected over 250 books, and they choose to sent half to the students at Rafael Cordero Elementary School in Catano, Puerto Rico, due to the hardships their town endured after Hurricane Maria.
