Michael D. Nieves, CEO of HITN, has been awarded the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his dedicated social commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service.
In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.
State Senator Luis R. Sepúlveda presented the award to Mr. Nieves at HITN’s studios. Senator Sepúlveda expressed pride in presenting this distinction, reserved for those who excel in their volunteer work, as it reflects the generous side that not everyone knows about the awardee.
Included with the award was a letter featuring the following paragraph signed by President Biden: “On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to you for your volunteer leadership, and I encourage you to continue to answer the call to serve. The country is counting on you.”
The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.
