On Tuesday, October 1, the P.S. 85 Great Expectations school community in the Bronx came together for a special event as HITN donated 50 iPads.
The ceremony brought together students, parents, teachers, District Superintendent Roberto Hernández, New York City’s incoming Chancellor of Education Melissa Aviles-Ramos, and Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia. Although brief, the event was full of goodwill.
HITN President and CEO Michael D. Nieves led the presentation, highlighting that the iPads, equipped with four years of wireless internet, reflect HITN’s commitment to supporting education in schools focused on student achievement.
“This is exactly what every community should strive for—helping others and never forgetting our children. Investing in our future leaders. We are honored to have HITN as a partner and are incredibly grateful for the iPads that will help shape our students’ futures,” said Chancellor Aviles-Ramos.
P.S. 85 takes pride in creating a school environment where students experience a well-rounded, culturally enriching education in a safe, welcoming atmosphere. Living up to its name, the school sets high expectations to help students reach their full potential.
Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia of District 86 expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am honored to help bring this technology to our children at P.S. 85, preparing them for the future of our community. I want to thank HITN for their generous donation and our principal, Sara Medina, whose outstanding work made this school the perfect choice for these devices.”
HITN’s donation reinforces its commitment to inclusion and accessibility for all students, supporting its mission to educate and entertain underserved communities.
