San Juan, Puerto Rico – HITN, the leading. Spanish channel that offers educational and entertainment programming to more than 44 million homes across the United States, has partnered for the 3rd year with the Casa Cortés Foundation and its Cortés Summer Workshops program aimed at children and young people with limited resources.

The Foundation offers these children and young people free workshops on drawing, painting, engraving, and mosaic art. The free digital cinematography worskshop, composed of 15 youth, is directed by HITN. HITN also loans the participants the latest iPads which utilize iMovie to capture and edit the projects.

The participants of the digital workshop between 11 and 19 years old arrive with great enthusiasm every day to learn about cinematography. For three consecutive weeks, these young people work hard to apply their acquired knowledge so that by the end of the workshop, they will have produced a short film.

This year our young people are determined to produce a short film that they can present at the Ponte Los Cortos competition. Last year they won the Jewel of the Festival award in addition to being nominated in three categories: Best Cinematography, Best Executive Production and Best Leading Actor. So this year they are determined to repeat the feat” said Yanira Meléndez, who in charge of the program, and Manager of Funded Initiatives for HITN Puerto Rico.
