HITN proudly participated in Chicago’s 31st annual Fiesta Boricua ‘De Bandera a Bandera’, a cultural celebration honoring the history, contributions, and artistry of Afro-Boricuas.
As part of this vibrant event, HITN partnered with various organizations to sponsor the Vida y Salud Health Corridor. This section of the Fiesta Boricua provided attendees with free health screenings, resources, tools, and vaccinations, furthering HITN’s ongoing commitment to supporting Hispanic communities through education and entertainment. In today’s environment, access to quality health education is more important than ever.
In addition to the Vida y Salud Health Corridor, the event featured several other key sections, including the Batey Urbano Youth Back-to-School Corridor, offering free games, activities, backpacks, and educational resources for children and teens; El Pabellón de la Tercera Edad, a senior citizen corridor sponsored by Alderperson Jessie Fuentes, with bingo, dominoes, and prize giveaways; and the Boricua Business Corridor, organized by The Puerto Rican Cultural Center’s Business Initiative program, highlighting Puerto Rican and minority-owned businesses, food vendors, and artisans.
Held over Labor Day weekend, Fiesta Boricua 2024 celebrated Afro-Puerto Rican culture, creativity, and art, while also commemorating the 50th anniversary of Roberto Clemente High School and marking the conclusion of the UN’s decade dedicated to people of African descent.
