HITN Brings Vida y Salud Health Fair to Puerto Rico

As part of its commitment to supporting communities across the nation, HITN recently held a Vida y Salud (VyS) health fair in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.

As part of its commitment to supporting communities across the nation, HITN recently held a Vida y Salud (VyS) health fair in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.

The event took place at the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the Valle Verde area of the Candelaria neighborhood and featured notable local leaders, including Toa Baja Mayor Bernardo ‘Betito’ Márquez García and Representative Deborah Soto Arroyo.

Various government agencies participated in the fair, including the Puerto Rico Department of Health, Department of the Treasury, Department of Family Affairs, Traffic Safety Commission, Morovis Community Health Center, Puerto Rican Cultural Institute, Institute of Community Socio-Economic Development, AARP, Automobile Accident Compensation Administration, and the Department of Labor.

Several private companies and nonprofit organizations also joined to offer their services, including Home Power (solar energy provider), Rescate PR, health insurance providers MCS and SSS, Vega Baja Radiology, D’ Mart Institute, the Puerto Rico Optometrists Association, and Claro.

Families from Candelaria and nearby neighborhoods who attended the fair received a range of services, from guidance on health plans and free vision exams to complimentary haircuts and assistance with government aid programs.

With this event, HITN reinforces its commitment to supporting the well-being of local communities by providing direct access to health resources, essential information, and services in an inclusive and collaborative setting with local partners.
