HITN Member Gains Recognition by PRODU Awards

Guillermo Sierra, the head of television and digital services at HITN, has spent 30 years in the industry. He recalls that Produ, the media company, has been a valuable ally and has accompanied him throughout his career. Sierra started his journey in Mexico with Cablevisión Marketing, and he emphasizes that he has witnessed the industry evolve significantly over the years.

Guillermo Sierra, the head of television and digital services at HITN, has spent 30 years in the industry. He recalls that Produ, the media company, has been a valuable ally and has accompanied him throughout his career. Sierra started his journey in Mexico with Cablevisión Marketing, and he emphasizes that he has witnessed the industry evolve significantly over the years.

Sierra was recently awarded as a pillar of the Produ awards industry. Upon receiving the award, he expressed his pride in specializing in educational TV, background TV, and documentary TV, which make a difference in the lives of the public. According to him, media and TV are a form of community service that helps improve the quality of life of the population. He believes that the media has an enormous social responsibility and that educational TV can make a difference in people’s lives. He expressed his appreciation for the award and said that he was thrilled to be there.

Sierra has worked for LAPTV, Discovery, PBS with VME in New York, BBC, and now with HITN. He acknowledges that Produ has always been there for him, providing great support when he tries to do new and different things in the industry. He believes that the media have an important social function and that they are more than just entertaining.

Sierra has seen the transformation of the industry over the years. In the early 90s, there was a significant explosion of international signals, and the Pay-TV industry arose, which is what he has specialized in. From there, he witnessed a significant number of changes, new media, and strategies. Currently, the industry is completely reinvented, and everyone has to find a new way to reach the public. The public has so many options, and everything is so fragmented, that it has made the industry more creative and intense in their search to serve. Sierra concludes that he has adapted to the changes and worked in linear channels, premium channels, SVOD, and developing regional platforms that serve the public and cater to what they are looking for, at the time they want, and where they want it.
